The Chickahominy Health District is a 4-county district of health departments covering Hanover, Goochland, New Kent and Charles City. The District serves the citizens of these localities preventing illness, promoting healthy lifestyles, and protecting the environment. As part of VDH, this position is a full-time state position with benefits including health insurance and retirement.

We are currently seeking an administrative Program Support Technician with a home base in Hanover County who will be responsible for providing professional and courteous service to our walk-in customers and responding to the public's inquiries over the phone. The Program Support Tech serves as contact and information resource for the admin and clinical teams; serves as lead worker to direct, advise and train others; designs and directs workflow processes; researches and processes claims; collects data and prepares reports on program activities. May provide performance input regarding staff to appropriate supervisor.


This position will be responsible for traveling and working as necessary within reason, throughout the 4-county district, based on business need. A valid State Driver's license is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency. Required travel within the district with an agency vehicle when available or a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement eligible) may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of office procedures, computer and software technology, use of policies & procedures and customer service
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, orally and written
• Strong organizational skills and experience with software applications and Microsoft Office products (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, and database entry) and general office equipment (copier, fax, calculator)
• Ability and experience with setting up and maintaining files & manuals
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to follow and apply established procedures and applicable policies
